What is Contoura Vision Surgery?

Refractive Eye Surgery

Looking for tailored vision correction? The advanced Contoura eye surgery may be the right choice for you. This US-FDA approved topography-guided LASIK procedure gives you highly customised, clear vision - in just 10 minutes. By mapping more than 22,000 unique elevation points on your cornea, it gives you a superior vision quality. Unlike conventional LASIK, which focuses on just your refractive error, this surgery also works on the irregularities on your eye’s surface.

The result? A more personalised specs removal that addresses both - your refractive errors and corneal aberrations to give you that perfect clarity you always dreamed of. What’s more, you also get enhanced night vision and contrast sensitivity with reduced glare and halos.

How Contoura Vision Works

Step-1

Corneal Flap Creation Using Femto second Laser

A very thin flap is created on the front surface of the cornea using a femtosecond laser. The flap measuring around 0.10 - 0.12 mm (1/10th the thickness of a human hair) is lifted from one side to access the underlying corneal tissue. The flap remains attached at the other end. Unlike traditional LASIK, no blade is used. This feature enhances safety and precision.

Step-2

Customised Corneal Reshaping with Topography

The cornea is reshaped using the most advanced Excimer 500 laser - based on the corneal topography scan done prior to surgery. The laser removes extremely small and precise amounts of corneal tissue to ensure light focuses accurately on the retina. With this, refractive errors like myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism get corrected. Contrast sensitivity also improves.

Step-3

Repositioning the Flap & Post-op Care

Once the cornea is reshaped, the flap is put back in its original position. The flap sticks back and heals on its own, and no stitches are needed. However, a protective eye shield may be put on the eye to safeguard from eye rubbing or pressure. Eye drops are prescribed, and a day’s rest is advised to speed up recovery and prevent infection.
